Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My apprenticeship entails of many different tasks, from servicing fire extinguishers and fire alarms to working along side engineers to complete fire risk assessments. I also gain great office skills as I am often required to quote.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy my apprenticeship as not only do I get a salary and a degree but I have learned many great skills and met some great people.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many skills that will help me within the workplace and outside, from developing my confidence from taking part in presentation and many fire safety skills from working alongside engineers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the apprenticeship is fine but can definitely be improved as I sometimes feel I struggle to fit my university work around normal work
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Working within Balfour Beatty I feel very safe and supported as it is such a big business. There is plenty of support and opportunities to engage with thought my entire time here at Balfour Beatty.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive plenty of support from my training provider as they are always there for any questions. I am also given 1 day per week to use as a study day.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification helps me perform better in my role as I get to understand the theoretical side of the work I complete.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

In my workplace there is plenty of extra-curricular activities to from dog walking days and other various volunteering opportunities.

I feel it is a brilliant place to gain many valuable experiences and meet some great people. The support gained is more then enough and there are so many opportunities to progress
