I am responsible for the social impact and social value reporting for our UK business. Before the apprenticeship my role was more about how we get our data and since the apprenticeship started the focus has been on how we can use it better.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It felt like this apprenticeship was made for me. It came at the right time, teaching me exactly what I needed to know.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed existing skills as well as learn new skills which have made a significant difference to what I am able to do with our data and for our teams in terms of sharing our successes and using the data for performance improvement.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well organised with continuous support from the coaches. They also continuously ask for feedback and make adjustments to how they engage with people to improve the experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have been wholeheartedly supported by Balfour Beatty. My Line Manager has throughout the programme ensured I have the time and space to do the learning and apply it in my work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have been fully supported throughout. My coach is always checking in on how things are going, offering the standard support but always interested in what support I need to succeed. Communication has been excellent and she has always makes things work around any challenges I have had.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

This has empowered me to do so much more for our team and the UK business. It has given me to skills to do my job much more efficiently. As a result I have more time to improve our reporting, and our systems and processes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, our offices run social events programmes. In my office we have a range of in and out of work hours events. For example, culture days enjoying foods at lunch from different countries/cultures. Activities after work have included escape room experiences, go carting and a favourite of mine - painting parties with pizza!

For me honestly and transparency is everything. It's OK to admit you don't know everything but important to follow that will willingness to go and find the answers. Have integrity and work well. Understand why your job is important so you believe in it and value it.
