Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Well in this brilliant apprenticeship we get rotated around different departments which means we are always doing different things, but also means we are given the freedom to find the department best for us rathert hen being stuck doing something we dont enjoy. I am taking minutes in workshops as well as doing site visists and working on long documents.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Due to the freedom we have with rotations, there have been certain aspects I enjoy more then others. Iam really enjoying myself and I know it will only go up from here.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my IT skill vastly since joining here. Also have adapted my confidence and character building. I am carrying myself in a professional manor as well as being more confident when interacting with new personnel.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

This is the most organised programme I have seen, each department is expecting an apprentice and always have high level work awaiting them. Every thing is on time with our early careers work and we always know what to expect.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

An unbelievable amount,they are easy to contact and we have frequent meetings with our line managers. They always offer support incase you are unhappy in the workplace and never make you feel trapped.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have frequent meetings with our college assesor, we have their contact info and they always leave high level, descriptive feedback on our work and they put the effort in.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The college work I have been doing is heavily related to our company and role. The majority of our work refers to our role and the impacts certain things have on a business. It has given me an understanding why certain things are in place.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have gatherings and christmas partys as well as informal monthly briefings with a delicious lunch provided. There is always something social going on and that is a huge positive.

Firstly the pay is incredible as well as learning and gaining work experience at the same time, everyone is friendly and if you are ever struggling the people here dont bring you down, they help you back to your feet. It is the perfect way to start you working career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
When applying remember how competitive it is, show them the best version of yourself, don't change who you are just make sure you are a friendly character and people feel welcomed around you.
