Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

each year is different as I move to different teams with in the sector I work in, but it will entail design/drawing different parts of a transmission tower and communicating with different people to get the info I need.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Balfour Beatty run a great early careers program because you get lots of chances to network as well as keeping you well looked after if you aren't happy

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to use the software needed to do my job to a high standard with lots of support as well as learning the fundamentals into how the different parts of a transmission line fit together.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
i think it takes a couple days to get the ball rolling when you start with Balfour's and some contacts can be missed out but overall its organised pretty well
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
i feel comfortable to raise an issue if I had one and if I need the extra time to do uni work i can with in reason
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
the things we needed to do from a uni point of vie w was very much lacked in explanation when i started uni because it wasn't explained fully and bits were missing, luckily we have other apprentices in the business to help each other but if you were the only apprentice you'd struggle.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
because power is so niche its hard to sometimes relate it directly to my day-to-day job but there are aspects at wok where I have understood things with learning it at uni, but as I move through my career and into different aspects of civil engineering it will benefit me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
there are loads of things to get involved in but I don't.
