Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Balance sheet reconciliations, assistance with audit process, assistance with creating journals. Meetings/catch-ups with team, mentor, line-manager, buddy. Using technical systems (SAP). Using excel. Off the Job activities e.g presentations, study days with training provider. External contact is mainly emails
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I think its brilliant. I have been given a 'full time' accountants role for my first placement which has included lots of responsibility. My tasks have been relevant to my study. The programme provides a study day each week, reducing the need to revise on weekends. The people are friendly.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Communication through delivering presentations, attending events, careers fairs. Building relationships and collaborating with team members, other apprentices and different members at e.on. Technological skills using excel, powerpoint, SAP.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
This programme is new to the company so is slightly less organised than the others. The structure is the same as all programmes which is great - 1 day each week study leave. Time with training provider/uni depends on uni timetables but is flexible for finance (I have been able to choose). HR not fully aware of all processes but this is something I have been able to help with for future intakes
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support is abundant at e.on. We have mentors who help more specifically with the career/finance related side and help ensure we have the best experience on each placement. We have regular catch-ups with 3 members from HR. Tripartite meetings with mentor and talent coach from training provider
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Dependent on each tutor/teacher but they are very helpful, both in person and over email. 'email a tutor' is available 7 days per week for assistance from home. talent coach from Kaplan is given to ensure we are compliant to receive our government funding but he is not a specialist in finance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Provides me with relevant knowledge to that assists my understanding in my day-to-day activities. Increases my ability to participate in team meetings. Provides me with general business knowledge. Also provides skills and behaviours modules which allow me to think about my personal development - these can feed slightly tedious but have value.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Theres professional networking events, each business area hosts many events/social activities each year to attend. Xmas social activities (paid for). Many e.on networks to get involved in e.g pride, embRACE (groups that work towards shared goals in addition to day-to-day role). There has been sport teams but this varies depending on which site people are based at.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The support is great. The environment and people are friendly and welcoming. The salary is competitive and the non wage benefits are brilliant. There is great work-life balance and managers are incredibly flexible. They are inclusive - vegan, halal, vegetarian options in canteen
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Complete the online assessments on a clear mind. Plan your responses but do not read directly from where you have written it. Research into the companies values and bring examples of where you have shown these, your strengths etc. Think about extra-curriculars, voluntary work, programmes you can get involved with on top of school work.
