Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Working in cyber security.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The programme is self-paced and I find the online aspect dull and hard to engage with. The in-person training is the highlight of the course but this is pretty infrequent.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Agile, Scrum, PM, Enterprise Design Thinking, Financial management and many more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured. You have 2 managers one for your day-to-day role and the other for your career, apprenticeship and career progression. The learning is set up to be completed by quarter and it's very intuitive.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I know apprentices often feel different about this depending on their manager. I feel very supported as mine is very diligent and approachable.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
With the company being our training provider, our career managers support us throughout the programme. Support is available whenever we need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualifications are very rounded and non-focused. As a result, it can feel that you lack role-specific skills without additional training. That's consulting though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are some. When you consider lots of us did an apprenticeship instead of university, I believe there should be more focus on providing extra-curricular activities. This would also encourage apprentices into the office.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good work-life balance.
Good career pathways.
Well-rounded training.
Plenty of opportunities to up-skill.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Do extra-curricular activities at school/college. Grades aren't always important.
A dull presentation/interview isn't memorable and won't get you through assessment days.
