Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves greeting patients, checking their medical history, ensure they feel like they have a safe and comfortable visits, assist with the procedures and exams and work in the decontamination room sterilising our equipment and working in the accredited lab making retainers. I follow the gdc guidelines and principles and have used my tempdent training throughout my time in the workplace and continue to learn and expand my knowledge on my course.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the training program with tempdent. They allow m=for time off the job to attend webinars which is a nice addition to my working week and gives me to the time to do independent research as well as go through the recorded webinar uploaded after the live webinar to recap in a]case any parts were missed

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The whole role was new to me and takes 18 months. Tempdent provide you with the tools and resources to learn new skills, and give good explanations as to why we follow the gdc and HTM01-05 guidelines so strictly. They provide you with great support inside and outside the workplace allowing you to have contact with a signed assessor who is on call for any problems or questions you have. The introduction to the course allows you to experience new skills that you may not come across on the job as well as the different tools used for the procedures and why they are used. My workplace is extremely thorough and supportive with my training and they work with tempdent and myself to make sure I get the most out of the training also.
I started my role in April and my course in July, I can confidently say I feel I understand the reasons behind our working to a much greater extent and feel more supported having the outside contact with someone if I feel I am unsure about any of the processes we follow.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is extremely organised, you give the continuity of the same tutor and assessors, the same time webinar every week and the wellbeing of trainers is promoted with a mental health and support contact Kat Michaels who appears on every webinar screen before we start.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My workplace are extremely supportive of my training, they ensure I get the adequate training days, a quiet room to go in and make sure I am on target with the deadlines to allow me to have the appropriate time to finish the coursework as well as recap with the lead nurse and ask her questions and advice regarding s[certain topics we are studying.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I need to complete to]he course to work as a dental nurse so they are extremely supportive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It has given me the background knowledge of why we carry out the processes we do for t[example why different disinfectants are used on different materials and the temperatures for sterilisation and what can happen if this isn’t followed. it give sin depth details, real scenarios and how to work appropriately and efficiently in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Our workplace has annual Christmas parties and birthday parties of it is a special birthday as well as host lunches for each other during our lunch hour where we each bring in something different and eat it together. It is a nice way to feel closer to your team.
