Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was placed in the Financial Reporting Team for my first 6 months. This involved checking balances, adhering to processes, and supporting the team in assembling quarterly reports.
For my second 6 months, I was part of the Group Tax team. The opportunity allowed me to support the team in filing Tax Compliance, reviewing expat tax disclosures, and assisting in various ad-hoc projects.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Absolutely. I constantly took ownership of different areas, and lead on projects that interested me.

I’ve learned to use various accounting softwares such as Tagetik and Excel, and learned about the processes involved in tax compliance and year-end reports.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Bupa is extremely supportive and nurturing. I felt and found myself right at home with my managers, the wider teams and finance floor itself. Everyone is always eager to hear from and support the placements and graduates.
