Actuarial Placement Student Review

The job role entailed pricing tasks, pricing corporate private medical insurance for new business groups and renewal groups. This role worked closely alongside sales teams, pricing development teams, and commercial finance teams so communicational skills were a key development point through the year.

I really appreciated that throughout this year I was treated as another member of the team, with the same respnsibilities as the other analysts. It gave a true workplace experience and allowed for the development of many transferable skills. There was plenty of support between early careers teams and the teams the placements were a part of. This placement has been exceptionally valuable to my career

I received extensive guidance and support from both the Early Careers team and the teams I was part of. Mentors were assigned to help me learn the roles, and they were always willing to make time to answer any questions or queries I had.

Bupa was extremely welcoming, with everyone willing to help, whether it was with role-specific questions or tasks outside of the immediate team. From induction week through to the end of the placement, there was consistent support in transitioning from university to the workplace. The company’s emphasis on its values—Brave, Caring, and Responsible—created a positive and motivating environment, making Bupa a great place to work.

The placement was highly enjoyable, largely due to the support and welcoming nature of everyone involved with Early Careers. It has been an extremely beneficial year both professionally and personally. As mentioned, the development of key skills essential to the field I wish to pursue has been invaluable for my future career progression.
