Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a Health and Safety Apprentice I am writing Risk assessments and COSHH forms. I look after the labs and the people within in the labs. I also monitor the maintenance work within the building and help out with DSE assessments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy this apprentice as it has really boosted my confidence and expanded my knowledge. It was a completely different environment to my old job and it's one that suits me better.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt different skills within the labs and different communication skills with people face to face and over emails and phone calls.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is really well structured as the 1-2-1 focus based work with your managers means you can learn more with them and gain more understanding. Which is the same through the teams meetings and 1-2-1 college meetings with your tutor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of 1-2-1 support, we arranged weekly meetings and working in the same office I cana sk if I am stuck with anything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider as with the 1-2-1 sessions I can get help immediately if I am stuck on a topic or question and my tutor will go through the questions with me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Through my training provider I am able to re-learn what I have been discussing in my job role and then can further my knowledge and understanding of the topics.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is summer meals and events that are arranged.

I would recommend the University of Oxford to a friend as it is an open and welcoming community, the jobs are laid out and structured well to mentor you and help you with anything you may need, whether that's within or outside of the job.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to University of Oxford?
Just do your best and apply, if you thinks you only have part of what the job role is requiring that is fine the rest you can learn on the job. Everyone is really understanding and patient and always willing to help.
