Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Assisting electrical design engineers in their design work as a contractor for companies such as National Grid and Scottish and Southern Electric.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme very well, I think the education roadmap for me and some other apprentices has been quite foggy at times but I can find things out by going to the right people.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I have learnt plenty new skills specific to my role and also developed existing skills such as public speaking and time management to name a few.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
As stated previously the work side is structured very well and I feel I am able to pull my weight in that regard, its just the education side which seems a bit foggy
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive plenty support from my employer and so far to date I haven't really came across any issue that I haven't been able to seek support from my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive enough support I feel to achieve what I need to achieve in terms of getting the qualification, I'm still not even halfway through the course yet however so I can't speak to later endeavours in getting my HNC such as building a portfolio as these haven't been discussed
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Many of the topics required in my HNC coursework have came up in the workplace as general knowledge for the role so it has helped out quite a lot
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Balfour Beatty are very good at organising social events and the like and offer many additional training courses I would be able to seek out if I wanted.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Balfour Beatty to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have had nothing but pleasant experiences and I believe the apprenticeship I'm on is a very good route to take when looking at a career long term
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
Put yourself out there as you'll get out as much as you put in so be willing to do extra to receive extra.
