Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as Senior Assessment Leader at Pearson involves training & recruitment of assessors for End-Point Assessment, engaging with training providers & employers over the End-Point Assessment process. Primarily, I am the focal point of data analysis for EPA in Pearson, where I am accountable for creating bespoke reports for the Sales team, grading & registration trends for senior management, and assessment forecasting.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am enjoying the programme as a whole overall, not only have I collaborated with another colleague in Pearson on the same programme but I have also built good relationships with apprentices with other organisations. A great opportunity to share best practice.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, one of the units in the first trimester focused on Database Fundamentals which taught me how to use SQL. I was aware of this as have access to Pearson's data warehouse. Using the new SQL skills has helped me create bespoke data tables which can be linked with Tableau.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well structured and gives us enough information per lecture to digest, take away and implement within our assignment projects.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Pearson often message me with positive feedback received from my training provider as well as checking in with me regularly to see if I need any further support. My line manager has been very engaging with my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The teaching staff are always available to answer any further questions either at the end of the lecture or will answer questions via email. Furthermore, regular check-ins with our assigned digital skills coach helps with progress and focus for development.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that it has been very beneficial, I am able to better serve the needs of the department, able to create a better level of solutions using the skills I have acquired to date.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are some clubs and activities that Pearson offers to its employees.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pearson to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good company to work for, very competitive, offers a good level of benefits and encourages career progression. Since joining in 2015, I have had three job promotions, they are invested in helping their staff become the better version of themselves.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
I would encourage speaking with existing employees on their experiences.
