Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Line Manager for 7 Sales Development Representatives, who are responsible for bringing new business in. Day-day, decision making around segmentation, inbound customer queries, general management including 121's.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have so far enjoyed my programme, it has given me a lot of opportunity to progress within Pearson and learn new things.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Managing projects, managing difficult conversations. Given additional responsibilities, for example I am responsible for the UKs sales training, which has allowed me to develop presenting skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised. The HR lead is in contact regularly and I know where I can go for support and questions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive all the support I require. They allow me to get on with my work, and are flexible for how it best works for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training provider often "forgets" or doesnt understand that we are apprentices and have full time roles the other 4 days a week and so often can be quite demanding. They are also sometimes hard to get hold off and somethings are not communicated/explained well. My employer is very good at discussing/advocating for me on my behalf.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel my qualification has given me a lot of new skills which can be applied in my role and allow me to understand how I can further develop.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
very rarely. I work remotely and so this is quite difficult. However, there are get togethers twice a year with other apprentices and I am able to meet with my direct reports 3/4 times a year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pearson to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They have provided a lot of opportunity and allowed me to progress in a short space of time. My colleagues, manager and apprenticeship co-ordinator have always supported and encouraged me with my apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
You are able to start apprenticeships within role or move up onto higher apprenticeships, so dont be afraid to apply for a job or a lower level apprenticeship, as the opportunity to complete a higher level is always available.
