Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work with designers so my role would be to assist wherever I can in current projects and making taking on individual tasks that relate to design.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the idea of gaining work experience as well as completing my degree. I feel this will give me a head start in the industry and will be able to make a larger impact on projects much faster

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My computing skills have developed along with my communication skills. I have a much better understanding of my area of work since joining Arcadis.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the programme is well organised but I need to make sure my own time is organised around this. Working in the office and on day release for university work can be very challenging if your time is not managed properly

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager is always willing to make the time for me and my questions, all colleagues in my team are also really helpful and have all taken me under their wing.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Support is available from the training providers although I find it difficult to engage online as i find in person much easier.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

In first year there is subtle hints of the degree picking up in the workplace and I presume for the degree to be more relevant to my job role as I progress.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

i am a member of the PWI which is an organisation outside of work that i can attend section meetings to learn more about my area of work.

Try to make yourself as available as you can to take on work. Also be keen to learn about why you're doing what you're doing as this helps your further understanding of your area of work.
