Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I have the opportunity to work across a variety of teams across TUI, from Airline Data Science to Commercial Analytics and beyond. Day-to-day really depends on the team, I could be making Tableau dashboards for stakeholders to visualise data, or I could be training machine learning models.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I very much enjoyed the first 6 months in my first team, and haven't much enjoyed the last month in my new team which is very different. The apprenticeship covers a WIDE range of roles, so you might get something you enjoy, and you might not.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I have increased my knowledge in production level data science pipelines and machine learning, learnt about linear programming for optimisation problems, and learnt how to change the colour of a cell in a tableau table.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Pretty well organised, they have been doing it for a while so they seem to know what they're doing. Exeter are not quite as organised as TUI but they won't be running it from next year anyway so that is kind of irrelevant.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I am given the time off that I need to study and additional learning resources such as Udemy license and a budget for books/courses. So overall that has been very good so far.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A lot, there are systems in place to communicate directly with lecturers, plenty of resources, and an assigned academic mentor to help with the whole process. But again, they're not running it next year so . . .
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
In the data science related roles, it will be very helpful, in the dashboards and analytics roles not so much.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yeah there are quite a lot I think, I haven't really taken part though.
