Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I help to upgrade and maintain a longstanding legacy system. This involves developing and testing code.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the work side of it. The university side of the program is quite boring and repetitive. A lot of the modules early on have no relevance to the path I chose.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt multiple languages since joining Fujitsu, the main one being Java but I have also had exposure to Powershell, Python and C++

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
It’s OK
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As much support as I need. They want us to reach out as much as we can and talk if any problems arise, at work or at home
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support is dependant on the lecturer. Some lecturers give loads of support and others, you don’t hear back from them for months.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
In my opinion it is the opposite way around. I feel my work in my role at Fujitsu helps me understand my qualification more. At no point has the qualification helped me in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there are often team socials, there is also a game room at the Manchester office and a football team. Some of my team also do golf so often that takes place

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Very good, flexible place to work
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?
Be yourself. I was in no way the best candidate for the job, skills wise, but it’s not always skills they are looking for.
