Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I would describe my day-to-day as follows: Backend developer maintaining 3rd party API components (connectors) and Cache solutions within Flight Sourcing domain. However no single is the same and this provides ample opportunities to learn a new skill everyday.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Coming from a non computer science background, I struggled at first, but overtime it becomes such a common task that I start enjoying the challenge inadvertently. Quite a rewarding feeling when a code I have worked on, runs as expected.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes. technical skills such as Golang programming language, AWS Services such as Lambda, Codebuild, Codecommit, codepipeline.
Soft skills: People management, emotional intelligent, presentation skills & time management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
As I started my program when covid19 was still an issue, but dwindling down, there was a slight breakdown in communication especially from the provider (university), but that now seems to have improved based on most of the feedback collected from us the apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received above and beyond support from my employer. When things got tough early on, TUI always lend me their ears and came up with solutions to manage challenging setbacks, and from this I am growing not just professionally but also as a person.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Enough tailored support, especially now as I near the end of the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel and believe the qualification is adding value to myself, effectively giving me more confidence in my role and as I interact with colleagues.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Plenty of opportunities. I have joined two networks at work and also taken advantage of a community day where we volunteered in the community as a way of giving back and rubber stamping the corporate social responsibility of the company. A chance to also act as a TUI ambassador outside the office.
