My role is Apprentice Construction Management Engineer. My role involves utilising various tools such as AutoCAD, Word, and Excel to help go through drawings and documents for our project. My role is to mitigate and/or amend any issues and make sure everything meets the necessary specifications.

I have developed my people skills in making new friends and networking within the office. I am also constantly developing my digital skills everyday.

I have a typical routine through the week, but there's also a lot of room for flexibility
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager is very good. We talk almost everyday and he's patient with showing me the ropes and making sure I understand what I'm doing and why.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university could do a lot better in their role. They spent three months telling us that we needed to do our OTJ training, but never actually sent us the templates to complete it properly. I would reach out, but I felt like I was constantly left in the dark. I recently had my progress review, so here's hoping that improves
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There's always a social happening in the office. It's great to connect with the other apprentices and people working in the office

Make sure you're willing to learn and jump right in. You're not on your own, but you have to be ready to find your feet. Be a go-getter
