Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The apprenticeship began in May 2023 after I began working at the home office in September of 2022. Although the apprenticeship started a little late, and I was nervous about the work involved, my assessor has been absolutely brilliant!! She has helped me settle into the apprenticeship, given me additional learning support (due to an autism diagnosis) and been consistently positive in helping me understand the work involved, and giving me guidance, encouragement, and enthusiasm. I would recommend lifetime training apprenticeships!
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I'm now half-way through the programme and I'm enjoying it now, more than ever. Its been a slow-burner and not without teething problems, but once I got into the work and the understanding, I am very happy with how things are progressing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Several. Within myself, my overall confidence has improved greatly. I also think my focus, time management skills, and appetite for learning have increased dramatically.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The work itself is all online, which is managed by APTEM and is very easy to follow. Sometimes, the learning components can be a bit confusing into what/when things need completing but I have regular T & L sessions with my tutor + additional work support so the course can be managed affectively.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I am allocated 6 hours off from my regular job and have support with my casework. The support from my employer has been exemplary.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A received consistent support and on a daily/weekly basis.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The training is very relevant is to my job role. The operational delivery profession is exactly what I am involved in everyday, so it couldn't be more relevant!. The qualification is giving me a more well-rounded and clear understanding of what working in public services entails.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes. I am part of the Cross-Government Autism Civil Service Network and I am a member of the PCS.
