Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am required to lead on the risks for the directorate and ensure they are monitored. I also work on a project about prolific offenders whereby I am required to research and build relationships with stakeholders. I also work on the workforce planning in the directorate to ensure it’s updated.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
My programme is interesting and I am able to develop my skills whilst on the course and also in the workplace. I find the work beneficial and I can apply these learnings to my apprenticeship and also my on the job work. Overall I do enjoy the programme I am on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learned how to build strong relationships with stakeholders and be able to upkeep them. I have also developed planning skills from working on the workforce planning and ensure that it is monitored regularly and kept up to date. I develop these skills regularly and try to improve them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure of the programme is organised and I have a clear working plan of how I will compete the programme. I have regular check ins with my mentor who explains the process to me and ensures that I am on track with my learning and development progress on the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I am able to have one day a week where I dedicated time to completing my apprenticeship. This is respected and I am given the time to do so without being disturbed or distracted. I am also supported by my line manager who helps me when I need help with my course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have regular catch ups and check ins with my mentor who explains the process for me and guides me though. I am given clear instructions on how to complete my tasks. I am able to contact them when I need to to be given further assistance if I require.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Part of my tasks help me understand where my role fits and how I can better my learning and development in the workplace. This helps me when I am in my role as I can consider how to complete my tasks with a better understanding. Overall, it helps me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I am able to attend social networking events and I do so regularly. I make sure to socialise with my colleagues in order to build relationships in the workplace as I know the value that they hold. When I go in the office I am able to do more than at home.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Home Office to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The home office is an inclusive environment and I have felt welcomed from the start. I also feel valued at work. I believe that there are plenty of opportunities available to me which can help me progress with my career. I would recommend the workplace to someone who wants to join.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Home Office?
I would advise someone to build as many working relationships as possible as they will benefit your day to day work. I would also say to to attend the office as much as possible as it is easier to motivate yourself when in the office rather than at home working.
