Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to serve our customers gold standard food and beverages. Providing a service to all members of the public no matter who they are and where they come from. I look after them the way I would want to be looked after. I also train new starts how to do our job to the highest standard so no procedures slip away.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love being able to learn something new everyday and work towards building a career out of my job. I get paid to learn. I enjoy working with new people and learning from experiences and making others experiences better. I have learnt so much from this program already and it’s only the beginning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes I develop on my skills everyday. I learn something new all the time. Never bored of the job I do because there is always room for progression. I learnt how to take the temperatures of food recently using our Digital food safety equipment. This was a really fun activity. As five of us got involved to help each other.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very organised my work is set out for me on a portal and I can access this everyday and work on it when I want to. The work is there, the questions are there and it gets marked and graded everyday so I know what I’m working with. The work load isn’t too heavy. I get to schedule it into my working day.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They support me all the time asking questions and allowing me time to complete my tasks off the floor. I get to use the work computers to study on and I don’t have to work in my own time. I have someone come visit me every month to track my progress too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is always there to help. I drop them a message most days to keep them updated too. They push me and motivate me into reaching my best each and every single time. If there is anything I’m ever stuck on they are there to guide me through it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It 100 percent helps me every single day. With what I am learning carries out in my day to day working life at McDonald’s I’ve notice behaviours in myself have changed and my knowledge has expanded greatly. My confidence has got so much better especially leading areas knowing the background behind it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes we have many activities to get involved with. One I did quite recently. I went on a litter pick with a few managers from my store and another fellow store. We worked together to help with the councils spring clean to get the town free of litter and we worked so well together and gave me a chance to adapt and work with others.

McDonald’s is a great place to work. I don’t always feel like I’m working when I’m there it’s great for building relationships with customers and employees make friends for life. It really helps with social situations and you are always put in different scenarios each day that help set you up in life.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
I would say that walking in and getting started won’t be easy but stick at it because it gets better. You will learn so much in the time working there.
