Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is an administrative one which includes administrative duties such as telephone, email and face to face communication with a wide variety of staff. I am responsible for maintaining an in house rostering system, testing, training and keeping records up to date. I am responsible for creating and distributing reports also.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying the apprenticeship by being able to gain new skills and knowledge and update my existing knowledge too. The BUD system is easy to use and mothers support from my tutor has been excellent from regular meetings to always being at hand if I need anything or have any questions.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my ICT skills for sure using exsisitng programmes but in more depth from my course. I have developed my mathematical knowledge by using thr GANNT charts and looking into statistical data from my organisation, such as finance. It has enabled me to have a more in depth understanding of other departments also.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel its well organised. Having previously mentioned the BUD system is easy to use so I am able to track my progress and up load my work quickly. There is help and support at hand when needed the structure the modules runs is methodical and flows. I think it's been great.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has been amazing. I am fortunate to have a very supportive manager who gives me dedicated time to my course and regularly asks me how the course is going and if there is any extra help or support I need in order to do my work/complete the course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider has been great. Having done another qualification through NWAS with another training provider my experience this time was very different. The tutor has helped me and supported me with any queries on a regular basis. They are always there at hand via BUD message or email to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel it gives me more confidence to be able to handle different situations. I feel I am more confident in using the computer programmes and also speaking to a wide range of staff members now. I feel its built my confidence also with public speaking and using power point to do presentations.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes. There are a number of social things to get involved in at NWAS. They regularly update their social media with upcoming events and we have an intranet which we can access to see if there is anything of interest. At the moment I WFH and have a young family so I am not committed to any but the option is there.

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel like a valued member of staff. I feel North West Ambulance service being a large organisation does put the time and effort into their employees providing training and support. There are many opportunities for progression and training which they fully support. I enjoy working for North West Ambulance service .
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
I would advise them to research any role they were interested in. Perhaps come to the head quarters and take a look around which can often calm people's nerves when applying for a new company/role to work for. I'd recommend they call up and speak to any recommend people on the application as they are always happy to help.
