Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working in a scrum team, I receive support from my mentor to work on development tickets for our mobile application. My day sees me attending regular scrum meetings, working on codebase projects and attending to features for the sprint.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme can be intense at times as there are a lot of demands on you during the course of the apprenticeship. With that said, it is a worthwhile endeavour and one I have already recommended to friends and family.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I did not have a programming background prior to beginning this apprenticeship so I have had to learn everything from scratch. Thankfully, I receive support from my team, mentor, as well as online learning that the company pays for.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The variety of stakeholders involved in ensuring the apprenticeship is progressing appropriately means that there is a non-ambiguous structure to raise any concerns to.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have weekly catch-ups with the lead developer to check in to see how I am doing. My mentor checks in daily for more granular support for my programming experience. We also have grad forums with senior stakeholders on a monthly basis for additional support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Support from our training provider is available when necessary but as it's remote, face-to-face contact is limited.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The learning outcomes delivered by Sheffield Hallam allow you to gain a wider understanding of how technology teams operate. Having a wider context provides you with a deeper appreciation of what you are doing in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Our technology graduate cohort is a good-sized group and we have taken it upon ourselves to organise social events between us. Beyond this, the company has an array of social network groups and events available for everyone in the organisation.

The people. Everyone at TUI wants to see you succeed and have no problem with taking the time to support you in any way that you may need. The company has core values and a culture that makes it a pleasurable place to work and grow.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
TUI want real individuals who are not only passionate about travel but are also committed to bringing their personality into work and contributing to making this a special place to work. My advice would be to be yourself and let us get a sense of who you are when applying or interviewing with us.
