Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is very liquid, as I am working in several different areas, recently I have been working on buried pipe calculation packs as well as a wind loading calc pack too. I have also worked on producing and writing reports to be reviewed by more senior engineers before being presented to the client (HS2), I have also had experience in design work too.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy working, I have really helpful colleagues that are more than happy to help despite them being extremely busy and I enjoy the work I do in general too

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Many, I’ve improved communication skills, time management, my knowledge and expertise as an engineer, team working as well as working to a deadline

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is well organised, there is a clear path from starting to becoming an chartered engineer, I understand where I need to be at different points in my career and how to progress
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot of support, whether it be technical or support with other more admin/pay/day-to-day help
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support is available, I’ve not had to make use of the resource so I can’t comment on that, however the head of the course is very happy to help
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I definitely learn more whilst carrying out my role, through talking to engineers and them helping me, however there have been multiple instances of me working on a project and being able to link it back to a module or course at university.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are many networking events, team meals out, office football etc etc

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Arcadis to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very supportive and inclusive company to start out a career at, due to the size it’s able to win a lot of projects that range massively in diversity so there is never a shortage of varied work at Arcadis, i have been able to massively skyrocket my knowledge as an engineer working with very helpful colleagues.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arcadis?
Show that you have a real passion for what you’re applying for, as that will shine through for the employers as they want someone with that passion to work for them, not just have good grades!
