Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Global comms for a Unilever Business Group - managing newsletter, sending news updates, working with corporate comms for wider Unilever moments. Working with brands to amplify their stories internally and externally.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
Enjoying the job a lot more than the apprenticeship - I don't find the course content that interesting, but understand it is just the nature of the subject, not the fault of training provider...

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes! Learnt many skills - communication, time management and general interpersonal skills needed in business. As well as more job-specific ones, eg using specific sites or software, certain processes used in comms.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Apprenticeship programme is relatively well organised - I have monthly workshops with tutor, as well as 1-2-1 sessions as and when I need it. We also have a contract manager who is great to speak to with any issues.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots of support - I have been very lucky with my Line Managers and team and have felt very support throughout my time so far.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Have 1-2-1 sessions when needed, and sessions with Line Manager and tutor every 12 weeks. Contact manager is great support too.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I find a lot of the course are things that I haven't needed to use yet in my role. Right now (7 ish months in) they feel very separate... But maybe as I progress in my role, I will start to use these skills and knowledge more.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Loads of social activities - things with apprentices, social committee and with my team (and business group/function)!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have loved my time so far, and hope to stay on after my apprenticeship!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Be yourself in the interview, and try everything you get the opportunity to! Go to all the events open to you - building connections in a company as big as Unilever is so important.
