Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work on a number of different projects within Fujitsu. The one which takes up most of my time is level 2 support for the tills on all O2 stores across the country. This includes running updates and daily reports on store activity and assisting on-site engineers with the work they are doing. Much of the other work involves security clearances and I am not allowed to talk about.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The overall experience has been excellent. The course material is presented in a way that is relevant to industry and is also interesting. My teachers have all been incredibly supportive and the working environment is friendly. At work my managers listen to what I have to say and show their trust in me by giving me more responsibilities when I ask for it.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to use the Kaseya tool and how to write scripts capable of pushing upgrades to 100's of client machines. I have also further developed my skills at Java Development. On top of the course I am doing, working at Fujitsu gives plenty of opportunity to attend further training courses.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

We work from home Monday and Friday, we are in the office on Tuesday and Thursday and then a Wednesday is in class. Our classes are split up so that we are only doing 2 subjects each semester, which means that we are not overworked. This puts the whole things to a much more relaxed situation.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is very supportive. I am reminded on a regular basis that if I need time away from responsibility in the office to concentrate on college work that it will be given. I work near other colleagues who have completed the same course and are always willing to help with studies also.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Our teachers are very supportive. They are aware that as we are only in class on one day per week it gives very little opportunity for us to raise questions. As such they actively encourage us to get in touch via e-mail and always reply to any questions we may have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification will help a great deal with the role that I want, however at the moment my role is not exactly what I am after. I am in the process of moving on to a more appropriate role and the qualification will be highly appropriate then. But I'll have to wait a little longer.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are no regular social activities happening in my team, although one of my colleagues is working on changing this. I have seen that other teams are regularly socialising together. And I have seen that in other parts of the country and in other countries, there is a very active social calendar.

Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Fujitsu to a friend as a place to work because it is a very diverse place to work. Unlike other places I have worked, they are active in encouraging their employees to further their own development by making other training courses available and giving the time needed to attend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?
Show an active interest in the company and in what your team is doing. Don't just make a point of learning your own job, but make a point of learning what everyone else in your team is doing. Your management team will notice and this will work to your own advantage.
