Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role bridges the gap between a healthcare assistant and a RGN. My day to day role, i have my own clinic with 20 minutes appointment. I carry out blood tests, ECG's, asthma, diabetic, mental health and learning disability reviews.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy the practical side of it. Especially clinical experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have learnt how to take blood pressure manually. How to assess a patient using the A-E assessment. Learnt about chronic long term conditions aswell as acute conditions.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

We have a module planner from university before each new module and we get at least a weeks notice as to what we are covering that particular week.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university are good at supporting you to be your best. There is lots of course online or on campus helping you with study skills, maths skills and IT skills.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Giving us the relevant information whilst in University to help us pass. Arranging spoke placements in a variety of settings and also the clinical days we have at University.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is courses that are arranged through Greater Manchester PCN. That I have carried out for e.g cardiovascular health, asthma, COPD, Diabetes, motivational interviewing, shared decision making and mental health study day.
