Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Currently I am on my first junior developer placement, so my role involves:
-Story development
-Testing
-Creating development and testing documentation
-Attending morning standup meetings
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme, my manager and colleagues are a great team, the company is a great one to work for. I enjoy working remotely and sometimes flexibly to fit around appointments etc.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Learnt lots of new skills on the ServiceNow platform - coding, development, testing - things I had little to no experience in previously. I've developed lots of existing computing skills such as the use of Word Doc, Excel. Also developed verbal and written communication skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Mine is the first programme of its kind for my company, so I do feel there could have been some improvements in the first year, that's mostly due to a lot of online training being required for this role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager and other seniors have been extremely supportive. Whilst being on placements and having to learn some things from scratch, there have been many senior members of staff who have dedicated their time to helping us learn and progress.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is support offered however I have not really utilised it much myself so can't comment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
There are definitely elements of the degree that have been helpful for the role, such as project management. Some modules do feel irrelevant however they do give a good understanding of tech in general.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At the moment there are monthly social events, yoga events, charity events etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They provide flexibility, value employee wellbeing, and promote teamwork which is reflected by most employees I have come across.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?
Be yourself, if you are applying for an apprenticeship, they are more interested in what your personality and positive values will bring to the team, any of the technical skills you need can be learnt along the way.
