Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working at Balfour Beatty so far has been a great experience, it has presented me with opportunities I could only dream of. Being an apprentice here I did not think that my opinion would matter much but it is the complete opposite it is valued and counted on.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship as I feel valued as a member of the team, I have enjoyed getting to work on projects and meeting members of management. It hsd been great!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt new skills when it comes to CAD. I have developed my critical thinking and my skills when it comes to not only time management but personal management and as it is vital to be organised when working in such a high speed environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure of this programme has been well organised. The pace of the apprenticeship depends on you.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support received from work whether it is to do with work or home life or something else has been great. My team are very understanding and flexible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support that I have received has depended on me. If I feel that I need more support I am given that whether it is to do with college work or projects and work, whilst if I feel that I am not in need of too much support at the moment I am given my independence.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification that I am working towards has helped me in my role as it allows me to have a deeper understanding for what I am doing form a different point of view. The skills I gain in things like report writing are used when it comes to writing up documents and emails. the same goes for all the skills I am learning throughout my qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At Balfour Beatty, they have things called affinity networks for you to join. These consist of monthly calls and emails and sometimes the odd event. There are also engineering talks that are held through the ICE and the PWI.

Yes
Why?
It is a great place to work, no two days are the same and the skills you learned can be taken on into everyday life.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
To ask questions, no question is a silly question and to make sure to take notes.
