Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
One of my roles as an apprentice is to deal with subcontractors. This means sending instructions, gathering invoices, paying the subcontractors and day to day interactions with these companies. I also gather information from the sites to put an enquiry together, get the price form from the subcontractors and prepare a quote for the client.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have really enjoyed my programme. This is because I have a great team that I have settled into well. All other employees are very friendly. My project are also very good as they are smaller scale ongoing projects so I can see all aspects of them. I also have learnt so much and it is good to have my own responsibilities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt some important Excel skills and how to format documents to make it straight forward, easy to track and understand. I have learnt about construction technologies, contracts, procurement and health and safety. I have learnt how to do my day to day tasks effectively like dealing with subcontractors.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I believe my programme is very organised as I feel very connected to people within the business even though the company is so large. Also, there is good contact between my workplace and university which makes it feel more connected and relevant. There are regular meetings with me, my line manager and a university representative.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. This is because there are so many meetings for me to take part in and events which make me feel part of the business and these are opportunities to keep learning. I am pushed to do well and am supported through my work load and university load.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have a day release day where I have lectures and seminars. Also this day gives me further opportunity to be able to complete coursework. There are also extra sessions during the week where we are able to ask questions and speak directly to the lecturer about anything that is troubling me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
i feel it gives me the theory knowledge that helps with my role. For example, learning about contracts will help me with my everyday work life as we have to deal with contracts and it is very important to be able to understand exactly what is included and what you need to look out for.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There is a social team that organise events for employees, but I definitely feel the social could be better with sports teams and more social activities. The company is very big with talented staff so they would be able to make sports teams that give people a chance to meet others in other parts of the business.
