Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis my role involves:
- Ensuring inflow and outflow of cashflow from Balfour Beatty into the @One Alliance is correct for projects in the form of consolidated applications.
- Managing Financial Performance of projects including Earnt Value, Solution vs Forecast cost, live-project running costs.
- Managing NEC3 ECC & ECSC Contracts for subcontractors/suppliers and ensuring applications for payments are processed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as it allows me to develop all my skills whilst performing the job and becoming qualified at the same time. It also ensures I develop the experience needed for the full job role whilst I am learning also to allow me to transition into the role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt further skills in communication and teamwork and how to work collaboratively within the project between the different partner companies within the @One Alliance. I have also developed my analytical skills in the form of finance and performance on projects so that I can analyse the wider picture.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very organised and structured and it allows me to have one day a week / 20% off-the-job learning so that I can attend Coventry University for my degree. This ensures I am able to perform at the best I can for my degree and also get the grade which I am working towards.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer supports me very well in ensuring I have the correct tools and training needed so that I can complete my job and degree course effectively to the level which I want it to be completed to (a high level). They allow me to have the time off for training if needed and also pay towards this too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a large amount of support from Coventry University not only for my Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management Degree but also for my Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors Technical Chartership which I have now also passed. Therefore I not only have support for my course but also other professional development aspects also.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My formal qualification enables me to learn about the skills and development needed for the role within Balfour Beatty; especially in terms of professionalism, compliance and other procedures also around the job role. Further to this, it allows me to develop other skills which would make me perform better also within the formal role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Within Balfour Beatty, we have many social events such as commercial away days/events, commercial awards nights, social gatherings within Balfour Beatty outside of work and other events such as meals out etc that we do outside of work. It allows you to network and get to know other employees which you would not come into contact with on a day to day basis within your job role.
