Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Taking cash and orders from customers. Running the shift, sending breaks. Cashing up the money. Giving out tasks. Following up on crew. Creating and hitting targets. Running the front counter or running the kitchen. Stocking up, cleaning; sweeping, mopping, cleaning the walls, filtering and more things. Interacting with the crew.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I quite enjoy learning the different aspects on how a business works. Especially the money side with ordering, the effects of social media. Also having a deeper dive into health and safety and safeguarding in the workplace. I do enjoy getting the feedback from my coach on how to be even better.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
How to communicate with customers in the correct manner. How to use different communication skills such as vocal, body language and more to communicate with the crew. Counting money. Multitasking in the different areas of the restaurant. Listening skills, advancing my leadership skills and how to run a successful shift.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I would say that the programme is very well structured across the time it takes to complete it. There is plenty of time to complete the work in between visits as well as having a mixture of virtual and in person visits which help you go further in the apprentice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel like I receive quite a lot of support from my employer and my team. I have regular catch up sessions where my employer asked my about what I have done and what is next and if I need a help or support with the work I am doing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I feel like I receive quite a lot of help and support from my training provider. If I am ever stuck or confused about a question, I am able to give my training provider a text and they will reply with a breakdown on the question and how to answer but not the exact answer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel like I am more well equipped with the more business and money side of the restaurant since starting this apprenticeship. I also feel like I am able to grow the skills I already had and make them stronger which makes me a more well rounded shift manager.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am part of the community ambassador group in my restaurants group which we all go to the Ronald McDonald House Charity house and help the team there clean up or help with events that they hold. We also go to different events in the different communities around Cardiff and help out.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great place to firstly meet new friends for life, you do feel like you are part of a big family where you can hang out outside of work whilst having other crew to confide in. It also helps build confidence and life skills which will help you in the future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
I would say that you should go into the job open minded. It is such a fun and great experience! And there is plenty of room to grow and become a strong and confident leader within your store. And also talk to everyone and make friends when you start in your restaurant.
