Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a young, female apprentice, just starting out on my construction career, I am being supported in my development, not shielding me but giving me opportunities to learn on both site and in the office, looking out for my wellbeing but allowing me to make mistakes and learn positively from them. I tend to be on site reinstating/tarmacking, then as requested coming into the office to give a helping hand with permits and utility searches.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy being able to attend site, and fulfil what is requested, and once completed being able to see the end result.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
At the beginning of my apprenticeship, my knowledge was very vague, however over the past seven months I have encountered multiple problems and solutions. While being on this course, I have become competent and the company has invested in me to get my CSCS card, GS6, GSI/ESRI, GNET. Operative street works ticket, and supervisor street works ticket.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The communication between Balfour Beatty and my college is excellent which allows me to succeed. We are all able to discuss what my strength and weaknesses are. There is always work for me to complete, which is beneficial as I am gaining the knowledge I need.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My line-manager s work ethic is exemplary, yet he still finds time to support and direct his team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The communication with forward planning has allowed me to plan what I need to complete before finishing my qualification. My college has been extremely supportive with this, giving me the motivation that I need, and setting me up to achieve the best of my ability.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The work that my training provider has given me has allowed me to learn the basic requirements for the work that has been provided by my employer.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Boat racing.

Would you recommend Balfour Beatty to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Balfour Beatty has so much to offer and as I am a new starter, there are so many opportunities there to take. The company cares about the wellbeing of each and every employee, doing cohort meetings every other month.
