Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
This depends upon the HR function that you work on, I have worked on the hub which involves managing calls, email and tickets raised by colleagues and managers. I am currently on case work which involves writing supportive guides, shadowing a case worker and learning about policy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, Severn Trent is an amazing organisation that give such a massive range of opportunities across all the HR function. My apprenticeship training also compliments this because it encourages deep digging in the org and how it is regulated, what our KPIS are etc.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned a lot about the process side of HR specific to Severn Trent, for example on the hub this is very administrative so I have learned all about the process followed. I have also learned about my working style, for example I have learned from an apprentice power skills course I am very action led and need to work on my analytical skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme as a whole is well structured, we have set tasks to complete prior to an online workshop, based upon a specific topic area. We then have an online workshop where we cover content and also work as teams to talk about this in context to our organisation. The work load is high in the programme and you do get support from your lead trainer, but Crosby do feel a little bit disorganised as a whole.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Severn Trent are amazing, you can speak to anyone across the HR function, including the Director, about anything you may be unsure about. You are pushed out of your comfort zone and given lots of different opportunities to develop and represent the organisation. If you have any sort of problem even personal the management team will support you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We have our workshops on a monthly basis usually. We also have an progress review with our lead trainer and manager every other month to check in with our progress and make sure we are not falling behind. You can call or email your lead trainer at any time should you have a problem or need help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification helps to develop my knowledge about different parts of the HR function, the wider business and wider generalist business knowledge (such as structure etc). It provides me with the skills to be able to do my role, such as improving analytical and presentation skills. It also improves my behaviours with a big focus on ethics and professionalism.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have new talent socials, which means that grads, apprentices and interns are able to get together outside of work. We have team socials within both our immediate teams and across HR. We also have a chance to network supporting on open days.
