Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Build software to meet business needs, specifically using Golang and API integration. Facilitating knowledge transfer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the learning side of things and working on projects. There is a lot of management stuff that seems like it's not really what the programme is about, but it is a corporate environment.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
developed coding and management skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
the university is disorganised and have been all over the place. My work team have been very supportive and keen to help, but they seem a bit unsure what to do with me as they haven't had an apprentice on this programme before.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My employer is very supportive and offers help wherever they can. They seem unsure of what I'm supposed to be doing which means I need to be the go-between between them and the university.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Very little. The university organisation is not good and the lectures are of wildly variable quality. Assignments are useful but huge with little prep or time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification will be useful in my role in terms of the overview and business sense. The coding aspect is not covered by the degree.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Loads; all sorts of organisations, events in the office, groups for running/knitting/LGBT/sustainability to mention a few.

Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a very diverse and open workplace that gives a lot of autonomy to it's employees. There are a lot of different roles and areas to work in so you can find where you want to work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
Be prepared for a corporate environment and to take initiative as they won't babysit you. However, if you're an interesting person with passion, that will stand you in good stead.
