Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
At the moment I spend my time at college studying and taking my exams in order to obtain my Cat A licence. This is full time and fast paced. When I have completed this (9 months after start date) I will be on the hangar floor working on live aircraft
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed everything I have completed during my apprenticeship so far. My time in college has allowed me to learn new skills and gain valuable knowledge which I will use when I am on the hangar floor. I have also enjoyed the practical element of my training, which includes workshop tasks

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have spent some time in a workshop environment doing sheet metal tasks and learning how to handle, use and control tools. This will be useful when I am on the hangar as this will be my day to day role and the use and handling of tools correctly is key to safety

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The training provider is in charge of the structure of my apprenticeship whilst I complete my basic training at college. It is fast paced in order to get us through our training programme as quick as possible, so there is a lot of self study and work which you need to complete
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Our employer is constantly in touch to see how we are doing, setting up regular meetings to see how we are getting on and if any intervention is needed with the training provider. Any issues we have had have been swiftly resolved by our employer, which has removed any stresses
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The environment is fast paced and you are expected to do a lot of self study towards your modules. The turnaround period between theory and exams is often short, sometimes a day or two, so learning content is difficult at times. Instructors can be poor and not knowledgeable to be teaching us
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Having the basic knowledge of how systems work and of different topic areas is necessary to safely work on aircraft. We are gaining this knowledge whilst at college and when we are on the hangar floor, I am sure that we will be able to put this new knowledge to use
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Currently, there isn't any sporting team or events which occur at TUI for employees. There are lots of networking chats and groups available to join through our internal company bulletin so you can chat and share things such as holiday tips. There is also a group Facebook page available for you to join
