Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day to day role is customs administrator. so i do the customs clearances for goods being exported out of the UK. I vary between customs from rolls royce to toyota. I also deal with customers BAE systems who export military goods that are licensed which i really enjoy. Also within customs there is opportunities to take on additional qualifications like customs academy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme as it allows me to learn new things and make new friends and relationships within university and my work place. It has also allowed me to work harder academically as i didn't take advantage of my education when i was younger. I would recommend a degree apprenticeship to other people as it provides so much opportunity within businesses and allows for a lot of development especially if you are completely new to the career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my mathematics skills as i use maths in my day to day role. i have developed my people skills as i have to talk to a variety of customers and team members. This role has also helped with my confidence as i was quiet and quite nervous as i was starting in a brand new career path.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I would say generally its a structured programmes but i feel in some areas there could be more organisation as sometimes we feel we are left out. When I'm within my new teams after my 6 month rotation because i am an apprentice i feel like the odd one out of the team and can sometimes feel like I'm there to just help on the side-lines rather than being right in the heart of the team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive a vast amount of support from my employers. they are always interested on how i am getting on and how i am finding the degree. But i feel that sometimes there is too much being expected from me. as i am trying to learn a new job role and then do my uni assignments and work and then on top of that my managers boss will then email us saying that we need to compete loads of forms or other things along side everything else we are trying to cover.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
If our training provider is aston university then they provide a large amount of support. our lecturers are really helpful especially if we are stuck on the assignments and they reply to emails very quickly as well. Our lectures are always informative and there is always plenty of help and extra resources available.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
There is a lot of transferable skills that i can bring to my day to day role. for example communication, as being a more shy person i found that this is something i needed to boost me in the right direction of succeeding within the apprenticeship. Leadership has also been an important transferable skill as it will help me when i work towards a more senior role within the business.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some professional networking events at head office that we can attend, but it can sometimes be hard t get to them because of the distance we would need to travel. there isn't a lot of extra curricular activities to get involved within my office as majority of people work remotely so we don't get a chance to organise many things.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CEVA Logistics to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel that ceva in comparison to other larger logistics companies provide more training opportunities and provide opportunities to be able to go to head office more regularly. Ceva also seem to try and keep staff on as long as they, and there is always flexibility within the business to move teams or expand on knowledge on other departments within the business.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CEVA Logistics?
Ensure you know what you want to do, as there are many different areas within the business that you can explore. Set yourself realistic targets as this can allow you to move up within the business especially with the help of managers and other co workers. always have a positive attitude within the business. this is because it can impact everyone around you sand can reflect on the opportunities that could be offered to you.
