Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day is broken down between office and site work. When in the office I complete any software or university work assigned. When onsite I am using various technology to measure and obtain the necessary data. So far I have had the opportunity to complete various jobs suchas; surveying, traversing and setting out.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Due to the very slow start to the apprenticeship I was unsure if this was for me. However, after a few months with some theoretical knowledge and shadowing I am getting more responsibility and feeling like I am part of a team trying to bring a big project to fruition.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a variety of new skills and had the opportunity to improve existing ones. The existing skills I have improved through various continued personal development events and specialised modules are; networking and communication skills. I have learnt new skills suchas; software skills in AutoCAD and Starnet, which has been useful when analyzing data obtained.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
As I am one of the first apprentices to join my department, the senior managers are unsure how the process is supposed to work. However, I find this great as it means we are learning together what an apprenticeship means and what is needed to successfully complete an apprenticeship program.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Due to being one of a few apprentices within the whole department, I find I get more support than others may do. Not only from my line manager but also from everyone else within the department. We are all working collectively to ensure I have everything necessary to be successful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Aside from the tripartite review, I find I receive very little support or insight from my training provider. They are available to contact via email however have provided me with inconsistent information and little explanation for the process of recording the off the job work/learning I have been doing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe my qualification through my training provider will greatly improve my ability to perform well within my role due to the broadness of topics it covers. It also provides a more in depth look into the mathematical and theoretical side of taking accurate measurements and analyzing the data obtained.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are a few extracurricular activities to get involved at work suchas; yoga, early talent women's - safe space sessions, and a lunch time walk. Otherwise, extra-curricular activities are planned yourself, eg; a charity run or charity climb, etc. Which will be recorded and passed throughout the company to garner support.
