Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to be on site and assisting with checking on everything that is happening. I have to write a diary each day and I have to record when lighting columns and signs are put on site. I assist the senior engineers with their tasks, such as surveying.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I’m enjoying my program a lot. I’m given a good amount of work and I am being stretched and challenged to learn new things all the time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned how to use an RD8000, a total station and a GPS station. I have learned how to read construction drawings and a lot of what goes into a project. I have also been first aid trained. I am better at CAD now too.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There has been a bit of difficulty setting me up with ICE but mostly very organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots of support. My line managers and the engineers I work with have all been fantastic.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Lots of support. The engineers will try to help me with anything I’m confused with in relation to my studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
So far the training has not related massively to my job, however my next module seems to be a lot more related to my work. I have learned lots about CAD through my training provider which has been very useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
The company run a lot of online activities but there isn’t much in person.
