Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Leadership, change management, developing a new strategy and reviewing current practice to deliver a service that connects to the business and delivers value to audiences. Daily tasks involve meetings internally and externally, line managing team leaders and running a department of over 30 people.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the learning, and although the work was very hard - and finding time to do it was a serious challenge and involved working almost every weekend for two years and every single holiday. However I enjoyed the assignments as I learned so much in the process. It was all remote so we did lose a lot in terms of networking and getting to know others in the cohort which was a shame. It met my expectations and I'd recommend it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
The apprenticeship will give me an MSc in Business and Strategic Leadership and has already facilitated me finding two new jobs in very different areas after my previous role was made redundant. I am now experienced in change management, developing strategy and leadership in completely new ways.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very well thought through and each module is a careful build, leading to a pretty seamless learning journey. The only amendments I'd make is to have academic tutors in year one and to make senior BBC leaders aware of the people completing the course as they have the potential to add real value to the business. I don't think this is fully appreciated or leveraged. There needs to be a concrete plan so the learning isn't lost.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Not much. Not much interest at all to be honest. Pretty poor support from the BBC.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Good support from the training advisor, although it's a very complicated, bureaucratic process.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification absolutely helps me to do my job better, to be a better leader, a better employee, a better person all round. I have put and continue to put my learning into practice every single day. I feel I understand business, strategy and change as a result of the course and this is vital to the future of the BC.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No.
