Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a normal day I walk to site to take pictures of the works happening and note down the time and what the construction workers are doing, or I help with setting out and GPS. If I don't understand what's going on I ask someone there. If I'm not on site I help in the office with ITP's, permit to digs and the drawing register
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed the apprenticeship a lot and my company has a very positive culture for health and safety, diversity and treats workers very well. It has exceeded my expectations as the team puts a lot of effort into making sure we do well and keep giving us tasks and making sure we're okay.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
The apprenticeship has helped me develop my IT skills, problem solving, communication skills and timekeeping skills through meeting new people and having lots of tasks to complete at once (revising for university as well as having a fair workload). I've also learnt plenty of new skills like using a total station, setting out, reading drawings, using CAD.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure is very good, as I've already had a lot of training to add to my knowledge and competence and if I need some extra time before exams to revise I can revise at work. There have been a few times when I've had to miss University due to work events or important meetings or training I can't miss which have added to extra work load of trying to catch up.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
It has been good. There is always someone to talk to about any problems and support me
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
University has not provided much support in the first few years. It has recently increased due to complaints
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The qualification/degree is fairly relevant, but as I'm based on site, a lot of design/theoretical concepts aren't directly related to my job role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are lots of events/opportunities to take part in
