Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a day to day basis I will respond to any outstanding email, investigate any issues and interact with different teams to find the answers to ensure compliance. I interact with senior team members as a compliance representative in meetings and can offer guidance and support to ensure all processes and procedures are adhered to in the Airline.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
TUI culture has changed ever since covid as the head office atmosphere was a fun and positive place to learn and work. It is still a positive place but with less people attending the office on a regular basis there are fewer activities which bring the whole company together.
The team I work with are amazing and very competent in their areas which means i can learn a lot off them. So i very much enjoy working in this team as part of the programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed many skills in the compliance team, one of which is root cause analysis, this is part of the training provided in the compliance team to ensure we as a team can take preventative actions to associated risks. Another is internal training all around Aviation processes and procedures set out by the Civil Aviation Authority. To display findings i have improved my excel spreadsheet skills as well as presenter skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme has been challenging at times, in particular with assignment deadlines. The reason for this feeling is due to assignment dates aligning too much with traditional university terms and not evenly spread across the year, For an example, during the summer holiday term there are no assignment deadlines. For someone working full time this makes finding the time to complete assignments more challenging.
On a positive note, the level of responsibility given to me has an apprentice has been a great way for me to experience real time business tasks and contribute to the overall team results.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My manager has been very supportive over my final year with taking the 20% off the job and finding opportunities for me to get involved with to meet the apprenticeship standard.
I think having review meetings as a whole cohort including the HR team is very important as we can share our worries and get them rectified (if possible)
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
In my final year I have received the most support from my training provider, I not only have the CMDA programme leader for support but also an end-point-assessment liaison and progress review meetings.
The attitude towards contacting module leaders, programme leaders and liaisons is encouraged. When i have reached out I have always come away feeling calmer and more positive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
There are certainly some modules which have been more beneficial to my role on a day-to-day basis than others. However, the range modules and a variety of understanding can cover my students.
The modules which include best practice are the easiest to implement in to my working day. For example, different project methodologies, HR practices and personal development.
I feel like i have been given a greater advantage to rotating around the business with a variety of best practices or offer new ideas.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Pre Covid-19 there were many extra-curricular activities of which the advertised by internal comms and word of mouth. However, since returning from furlough I am unaware of what events and classes are available to me outside of the office.
TUI were really good at offering a learning week which they do still offer but online now which in my opinion doesn't offer the full experience and networking benefits.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
Yes
Why?
TUI is a great place to learn and work. Support is provided to anyone seeking it and opportunities to move around the business are promoted. This is supported by individuals shadowing other teams or learning about new projects through internal comms.
For someone who hasn't worked anywhere else in their career, TUI sets a high expectation for any other companies.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
TUI CMDA application process consists of a test, video interview, assessment day which includes an interview and a presentation. The presentation is based on a current business proposition so use relevant business/ news references and link it to TUI values, strategy and other company relevant information.
Onboarding process included a couple of TUI induction courses. This was split by an introduction about TUI and their products, the second is around HR procedures and about 'you' as an employee.
