Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a front of house team member at the strawberry gardens. My job involves giving customers their cutterly and serving their food. I also do check backs, clear their plates and do the pots. I’m also around to assist customers and help them have the best experience at our pub.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I’m enjoying my programme a lot as it’s helping me learn a lot about the catering industry. It’s helping me to see that there’s much more to it than I first thought, and there’s a complex system in place to make customers happier and improve brand reputation.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to help out customers and help them have the best experience. My main goal is to make every customer leave satisfied. I’ve also learnt a range of social skills in the pub, such as my ability to communicate and talk with strangers on a day to day basis.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well structured. I have numerous websites I can use to help me with my learning. my trainer [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is also very good at keeping everything organised and straight forward which helps me a lot. I also like the new system we are going to be using.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is very supportive. She is constantly making sure everyone at work is happy and does and amazing job at running the pub. If anyone at work has any problems they know they can go to her and she will help and keep it confidential and sort out the situation.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

She is extremely supportive. Anything I need help with I know I can ask and will receive support. I also have numerous ways to send a message to my training provider, which is great as I can always stay in touch. My training provider also emails me with reminders for my next visits.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification It helps me to understand many new things in the catering industry and allows me to be a better front of house team member. I learn a lot of new things like different social groups, brand standard, how to identify my customer and also help with wants / needs.
