Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Responsible for leading the development and execution of the B2B marketing campaign plan for Pearson Higher Education across the UK and Europe. Ensuring high-quality campaigns are developed using insights, data, and collaboration with the go-to-market team. Working closely with sales management and product marketing, I place focus on innovative and creative campaign execution that stands out from the crowd to engage and capture the attention of our target audiences for demand & lead generation for a portfolio of SaaS products and services.
My key responsibilities are to:
- Lead a campaign team of five direct reports, whilst developing a culture of campaign excellence to ensure team skills are supported and optimised to deliver high impact campaigns
- Lead on the strategic development and communication of demand and lead generation campaigns, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are informed of plans and performance
- Select optimal channels for campaign activity, with attention to campaign objective and role of cross-functional teams within funnel implementation
- Prioritise resources within the campaigns team to ensure optimal use of time and spend
- Collaborate with the wider GTM team to undertake campaign planning across all agreed areas and in consideration of optimal delivery timeline and objectives
- Tracking and reporting all campaign activity and providing performance metrics and ROI back to stakeholder groups and the senior leadership team
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It has been a very interesting experience. There have been some modules that are more familiar, but also some other modules that are brand new to me. The Pearson apprenticeship team has been very supportive in my learning, as well as my line manager and ensuring that I maintain 20% off the job towards my studies.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I have learnt lots of new skills in areas where my past experience and career haven't allowed me to work in, such as e-commerce, SEO and other niche areas that I do not get the time to delve into the finer details, and practice within my day-to-day work,

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well structured and organised. I usually take Monday as my study day for 20% off the job and then the programme is delivered in block teaching, on a Thursday and Friday with weekly online one hour sessions to ask questions about the assignment for that module. This pattern is used for each module every 4-6 weeks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lot's of support, the apprenticeship team run various initiatives for apprentices to join, my line manager is also very understanding about my programme and is able to offer advice such I need it. They have also paid for all my travel and expenses to ensure that I can attend university in person.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We have different types of support available, weekly IQA sessions which are one-hour online meetings where we can ask questions. We can ask questions in lectures, post on the teams channel if we have assignment questions or schedule calls with tutors outside of lecture time. We also have access to the university support services.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has given me confidence in the areas I was less familiar with but also reassures me that I am doing things correctly and have a strong knowledge of the areas I am more familiar with. It has given me new ideas to implement and put into practice in my own work, as well as sharing learning with team members and direct reports.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
The apprenticeship team run monthly meetings, it is possible to become an apprentice ambassador which involves lots of different types of activities. We can blog about our experiences on our internal intranet site, we can join discussions on L&D to talk about our own experiences for other employees who may be interested in an apprenticeship also.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pearson to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would absolutely recommend Pearson and the apprenticeship scheme to friends. It is fantastic that you can work full-time, receive a salary as a regular worker but also study towards a professional qualification that is completely funded by the business and will continue to support you throughout your studies and work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
Express why you feel passionate about working for the business. It is a very large global business, so can be very fast paced and exciting, but also presents lots of internal challenges and obstacles to overcome, so showcase how you are able to multi-task and work under pressure when needed.
