Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As an Equity Analyst I research into different businesses that abrdn can invest into. I also work with a lot of big complicated excel spreadsheets. I also am involved in meetings with abrdns brokers to discuss how useful their research has been to us to look into what businesses to invest in
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have really enjoyed the programme so far and i 100% positive that opinon wont change for the rest of the time i am invloved in the programme. I have alwyas had so much support and someone to talk to if i need help or i dont understand something and the team that runs it are always checking up on us to see how we're all getting on

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
In my job i have both learnt loads of new skills aswell as devoloping and getting more confident on the skills i already have. I have learnt how to use advanced excel skills and feel very confident about doing that without any help. i have also improved my communication skills and have learnt how to be more confident when talking to people and presenting

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
the recruitment process is very long but you are well communicated to all the way through and have help avaliable at every stage. we had a 2 day induction at abrdn and it was very useful. They thought of all the questions we might have and made sure they covered it all for us. when you start your job you get given a budy that tends to be in the same part of the business as you that you have regular meetings with to help with any enquiries you may have. you also can still ask the team that run the induction days and the recruitment process for any help you may need aswell
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive as much support as i need off my employer. My manger walks me through every task i am given to make sure i completely understand it and to give me an opportunity to ask any questions but he is always happy to sit and help me with anything i need help on
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
i get constant support from my tutor. i have a call with them every month to talk through the task that have been set for me and to ask any questions but anytime between those calls i am bale to email my tutor questions or ask for a call for help and they're always happy to
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
the qualification has been a huge part of my growth within my job. it has helped me to analyse the work a do on a deeper level and understand my work more. It has also really helped me to develop my skills that i need within my my job for example, IT skills mainly excel, problem-solving and communication
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Within abrdn there are always social events and networking events. There are loads of different groups you can get involved in but the main one for the trainees is nextgen which is a group that organises events for people to go to and meet new people from all parts of the organisation
