Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role as an Application Development Associate involves working on projects for various clients in a range of various roles in order to gain experience in technical capabilities. Currently as a back end developer my role consists of creating, improving and fixing applications for clients whilst also adding new features and fixing bugs. This role specifically involves a wide range of technology and use of programming languages.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Personally, I really enjoy my program and the opportunities it offers. Working as such a professional and innovative company with employees who have great experience is extremely rewarding and I feel as though I continuously developing. Additionally, having the opportunity to gain a masters degree at the same time is great. On the other hand, I do feel as though the University content could be better and more relevant to my job and also the training provider could teach more technical skills and using technologies that are being used in the workplace but on the whole I really enjoy the program that I am on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Since joining Accenture I have developed my existing soft skills of verbal and written communication, time keeping etc. However, what I have learnt is a wide range of technological skills such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, AWS, TDD, Git etc which I did not possess before. I have also learnt great leadership skills and find myself increasingly taking more ownership of my work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer provides me with a lot of support and there are many different avenues I can seek support from. I have bi-weekly calls with my line manager to discuss my progress and any concerns we both have. Secondly, I have monthly calls with my people lead to again discuss my progress and any concerns I have and additionally have a place to ask any questions. Also, traditional work place mentors and HR representatives are always happy to help and to support you whenever needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel as even though certain modules in my qualification are not relevant to my role and day to day jobs the modules that are, are increasing my technical knowledge and making me more comfortable within my role. My qualification also provides me with a safe space to practice my technical skills which can be used on my role. Overall, each module does either improve my technical or soft skills and allow me to be a better worker in my day to day job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Extra curricular activities at Accenture are plentiful. Whether you want to join a sports club, volunteer for a charity, or attend a 'lunch and learn' session there is plenty of activities to choose from. There is something for everyone and everyone is extremely welcoming of you and you are encouraged by the company itself to get involved with social and 'side of desk activities'.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
l would recommend Accenture to a friend as In my first six months at Accenture I have thoroughly enjoyed my experienced and have been almost at times overwhelmed with the amount of opportunities available to employees. Accenture has given me the opportunity to retrain into a career that excited and motivates me and has provided me with the tools and expertise to make that transition. Additionally, to also have the opportunity to gain a qualification from a Russel group university as part of my apprenticeship is unique and will definitely set me up for the future of my career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
My advice to anyone applying to Accenture is to grasp every opportunity available. Make the most of all the learning opportunities available. Be yourself and be open to new ideas. Get to know your team and others, network and learn from others around you. Finally, be confident and be yourself. Your personality and desire will shine through and enable you to gain a position at Accenture and start to build you career.
