Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day to day role is getting involved with projects the firm is working on, usually in a research dominant role to assist the more senior members of the team. This could be anything from business cases to transport plans. I also take part in stakeholder engagement, often writing emails to the client.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
My day to day work is very varied which I really enjoy as it means that I can learn new things. Also, the theory learnt in my degree backs it up and I really enjoy the content of my course. It is hard though managing a degree and working too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Members of the team are often on hand to help learn new knowledge to develop new skills and there are lots of opportunities within Arcadis to take extra training courses. Also being in a corporate environment for the first time has forced me to practice my professional skills in the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
At first I found it hard to know exactly what the programme expected however now I have picked it up it is clear how much time I am expected to spend on my degree and how long at work so I would say it is well organised. Also we are always told out uni block release weeks well in advance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
If there is ever anything that I am unsure about then I can always ask my line manager for help or any other member of my team. My employer is contractually binded to meet the requirements of my degree and everyone is understanding that we are doing a degree at the same time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I know if I was to ask for support from my course director then I would receive whatever I required, I only have to ask. We have access to all of the Uni academic support facilities too. Having said this it is often hard to know what you need support on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
First year has been a lot about introducing transport which is very useful when starting to try and understand a new role. The qualification has been developed in line and having a deeper understanding of why/how something happens is always going to help with understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are often apprenticeship networking events, team socials every quarter, access to gym in building, we partner with a volunteering scheme, we are granted a charity day a year to give back to the community, we have a designated charity per quarter and have a lot of bake sales/raffles/ do fundraising. There are plenty of opportunities
