Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

At the moment I am currently at college for a 6 month block where I am learning and practicing skills required to be a trained multi-skilled engineer in the food and drink industry. In between college blocks, I am back at Premier Foods where I apply the skills and knowledge that I have gained at college into working practice.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Starting an apprenticeship has been one of the best decisions I've made for my career. I get to learn skills and gain nexperience that my employers want, whilst earning a salary and completing a nationally recognised qualification. It also feels great to have an employer that are highly supportive of my career development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills such as, welding, thermal cutting, electrical and mechanical maintenance, health and safety, and machining.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well organised into dedicated learning blocks to allow more effective training so that I am better prepared for the workplace.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My apprenticeship is fully funded and I have plenty of support from my employer when I need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Plenty of support is provided by the college to ensure my time there is successful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification is critical for ensuring that I will be a fully competent multi-skilled engineer after my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are extracurricular activities, however most of my time is focused on training to ensure I maximise my time there and get the most out of my apprenticeship.
