Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis I am often either selling holidays and products to our customers, giving our customers fantastic service or leading the team with also taking on the third in charge role in our store. I will help and support the new starters in our store also.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my apprenticeship, it meant I was able to starting working in the travel industry at the age of 16 which is were I always dreamt of working, it also meant I got to meet lots of new people with lots of experience already within the industry. The apprenticeship allowed me started working at the age of 16 in a role that I loved.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt leadership skills and lots of team working skills as I have had a lots of changes within our team which means adapting to lots of different personalities. I have also gained lots of independence during the role and how to deal with different types of customers confidently

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship I am currently doing is really well structured and my coach sets me goals and targets of how much works needs completing by a set date in preparation for my next visit. I am currently 6 months ahead of programme and everything has been really well organised so far.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is really supportive in my role as an apprentice and will give me my adequate time to complete my off the job learning once a week. She will allow me to come of the counter with no distractions and any work that needs completing by her she is more than happy to help
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My apprenticeship coach Carol is fabulous and always strives me to achieve amazing goals and wants me to gain experience in different areas of the business also. She always puts my name forward for different training and activities to help me gain as much experience as possible and this allows me to gain evidence for my apprenticeship. I am currently now 6 months ahead of target,
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have gained so much experience during my apprenticeship, meeting new people, being part of different programmes such as the TUI Apprenticeship awards whereby I won rising star. All this experience and the learning modules completed helps me progress in my role, not only selling these products to our customers but also the confidence gained from these experiences.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am always getting involved in different work events and social activities outside of work. As I stated I was part of the Apprenticeship Awards team, I always joining training calls with different suppliers. Last month I also attended a Royalton Hotel Conference in Hull after work which was fun and allowed me to me different travel agents outside of TUI.

Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?

Why?
The apprenticeship scheme is great and if anyone is young like myself when I started looking to start there career is travel this is most definitely the best way to do it. I have gained so much experience as an apprentice and my coach has pushed me to achieve some amazing goals and meet lots of great people. I can't recommend the apprenticeship scheme at TUI enough
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
Bring your confidence and personality to your interview, that is what customers like to see and to learn about your personal experiences of travelling and your special memories. Learn about TUI as a company and why we are the best loved holiday company. Know the products we sell and what has recently launched like our TUI River Cruise. The most important aspect is your personality!
