I had worked alongside experienced teams part of HSBC. Carried out hands-on taks based on the learning objectives. Worked with teams to create initiatives to benefit the banking. Presented ideas over one hundred people ideas . Listened from experienced employees and team managers . Learnt on how to create the perfect CV.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

I had enjoyed the workshops and found them to be a valuable insight into HSBC and the initial steps towards shaping my future career. It was also keen as it gained experience for me to build on relevant skills and attributes to support me as I pursue into the world of work.
How well organised was your work experience?

My work experience was well organised by how we transitioned from each functional area part of HSBC. Experienced employees shadowing teams,moving from tasks, planned presentations and meetings for us. We also had different timings for sessions part of the work experience, and had fit contingency time in sessions for unexpected events.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

The work experience had gave me an insight to a career that i would love to pursue. It also enabled me to understand the tasks that i would withhold if i were to work within the company and the responsibilities involved. The work experience had solidified my dream aspiration within HSBC.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?

I was never paid or reimbursed for this experince. I had felt that the experience did not need to pay me as it was online and during the holidays when i was not in school. I could take part of the experience using my laptop at home , which i found useful.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

I had gained knowledge on how to prepare a presentation . How to create opportunities for myself , and developed on my team management skills. Better preperation skills such as brainstorming and being collaborative on ideas. I have learnt the different systems part of HSBC and how to appply for roles within HSBC.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

The company culture had grew despite covid. The culture is diverse , and fits every employee part of HSBC. HSBC explained on how it allowed successful collaboration, rewards good deeds that goes unnoticed , enables constructive feedback ,creates a relaxed work environment and allows flexibility in work. Overall it would be relaxed and successful if i were t o work there.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

There were opportunities for networking and meeting other employees online using linkedin as the work experience was online. I have multiple connections on linkedin from the experience, which i did not have before. We had time within the work experience to connect on linkedin with employees within HSBC. We also had time to speak ask questions to experienced workers in different areas.

Why?
The experience teaches numerous life lesssons and skills that can brought to anywhere in the world of careers. The experience had allowed me to use a range of skills during tasks that took place with teams or by myself. The experience had developed me so i can progress to my aspiration.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
I would have liked being told that HSBC can find the right role for anyone intrested in their corporation from their strengths and weaknesses. HSBC constantly improve and develop their employees and give them opportunities. I would also advise that others find an area they are intrested in HSBC and ask questions to the area during the work experience.
